Is Cross Stitch Good For Mental Health?

Many believe that cross stitching is good for mental health for a variety of reasons. It is a very focused activity that requires the stitcher to use the pattern and by choosing the color fiber translate the design to fabric. This process requires strict counting of the stitches that are on the pattern. It is also a repetitive process of a 'flow state' where the stitcher can only focus on the project at hand. This process shuts out what maybe a stressful situation the stitcher is experiencing or just needs to wind down after a hard day. There are many other benefits that lead to better mental health by enjoying a sense of accomplishment, encouraging patience, boosting creativity and building fine motor skills.
